On Wednesday 29th March 2017, Steven Brandon took home the award for ‘Best Actor’ at the annual National Film Awards, ahead of Michael Fassbender, Daniel Radcliffe & Eddie Redmayne, another amazing achievement considering the scale of films we were in competition with. In addition, every category was voted for by the public, with a record 3.1million votes registered this awards season, so a huge thank you to everyone that registered and cast their vote; incredible support
The event was held at the Porchecster Hall, London, which saw a variety of awards presented to an array of screen talent talent, including ‘Lifetime Achievement’ awards for Sir David Jason & Nicholas Lyndhurst, Simon Pegg for his contribution to film & Ricky Gervais (David Brent: Life on the Road) for ‘Best Comedy’.
In his acceptance speech, Steven was quick to thank Michael Fassbender for ‘letting him win’, whilst a special thanks went out to our Director Jane Gull, Writer Duncan Paveling, Producer James Rumsey, Penni Bubb (The Mushroom Theatre Company) where he first discovered his love for acting (‘on a Wednesday’) and of course his ‘Mum and Dad’. Steven rounded off but dedicating his award to ‘all the feral team’ as well as a cheeky finale in thanking Sir David Jason for voting for him.
A special mention must also go out to one of our other cast members, Shana Swash also nominated last night (Best Supporting Actress), who sadly (on this occasion) missed out, but her excitement and support of Steven’s win, again displayed the respect and appreciation of each others work.
A full list of winners will soon be posted at: www.nationalfilmawards.org and the event will be screened in April on Sky Showcase, so be sure to follow us on social media to find out when and where.
Once again, thank you to everyone that voted, creating yet another special event in the My Feral Heart journey.
